There’s a really simple process to getting what you want out of life.
- Know what you want.
- Find a way to get there.
Conceptually, it’s not all that difficult.
The problem is that it’s really freakin’ hard to settle on “what you want to be when you grow up.” Making a decision feels dangerous. After all, what if you choose wrong?
So most people just don’t act. They stick it out in their boring, everyday lives, unwilling to take risk because they’re afraid that they’re going to make the wrong choice.
This is totally unacceptable.
Seriously… If you’re willing to settle for that, stop reading my blog right now. Close your browser and come back when you’re ready because there is nothing that I can say here that will do you any good.
But you’re better than that. You’re reading this post because you know that life can be better. You want it. You’re willing to take the steps to make it happen.
And it’s easier than you’d ever imagine.
Just take one little step toward making your life a little bit better.
I want you to stop and ask yourself, “Am I living the life that I want?” If the answer is “yes,” awesome. You’re officially in the 2% of the population who are.
But 50 to 1 odds say that you’re not totally satisfied with your life. And so I challenge you to stop and ask yourself a second question–”How can I make my life better today?”
Take just one little step to improve upon what you have now to make your life more like you believe it should be. I took my step today–I got off my ass and wrote this post. I haven’t been updating my blog regularly because I’ve been totally confused about what I’m put on this earth to do.
And today, I said, “Screw it. I’m going to improve someone’s life today.” And here we are.
So ask yourself this question every single day of your life. “What can I do differently today to make my life just a little bit better?” Ask it over and over again until the answer is, “Nothing. Life is perfect.”
And it all starts with one little step in the right direction.
What can you do differently today?

Rob,
You make several excellent points here: First you challenge folks to examime what they want to have out of life. That requires some self reflection, not high on the list of most people, but definitely the first step to creating the life of your dreams.
Next great point, we have permission to move forward, even without having all the answers. My Dad used to say, “pick something, even if it is wrong.” That is because if you pick what is wrong, you will realize that and pick something else, taking small steps along the way until you figure it out. Thanks for the post! Debra
Thanks for sharing, Debra! “Pick something, even if it’s wrong.” I like that.
Great points, Rob. Perhaps the most critical is just take some action. It is rare in life that a path we take is totally one way and with not opportunity to divert. Even in our confusion about the right next step just taking a step is what it is all about.
Definitely, Lin. If you make a beeline for your goal, you’re going to eventually run into some roadblock that you didn’t expect.
If you try to go through it, you could spend years getting nowhere.
If you have the courage explore other options, you may find surprises that you never expected

Hi Rob!
Great site! I get so inspired by looking around finding happy sites like this. I was just writing myself on following your dreams and grabbing the opportunity .
I have a question:
Can we profit from the dream-stealers and the naysayers?
Thanks and sweet dreams!
